Braces for Adults and Children

Creating the perfect smile, whatever your age

If you haven’t already heard, braces are the new cool. It doesn’t matter what your age, straight teeth are most definitely ‘in’, and we’re delighted to offer braces for children and adults. Whether it’s to look great or to help fix a few tooth problems, Warragul Dental Care is the right choice for you.

Children and Teenager Braces

Getting braces at a young age can be a huge benefit to the long-term heath of your teeth. We’re happy to work with you and your family to discuss whether braces are necessary and, if so, at what age to start. Braces are used for two reasons: one for appearances, to make your smile big and beautiful, and two: to fix certain teeth bite problems.

When does treatment start?

Between the ages of 7 and 12 we can start on treatment to develop your child’s jawbones. This will help the teeth fit in the mouth neatly. The treatment will help fix any problems caused by tongue thrusting and thumb sucking. It will also improve issues such as difficulties breathing caused by swollen adenoids or tonsils, and bite problems. This stage can take between 9 and 18 months and may occasionally be all your child needs. Once this initial treatment is completed we will assess whether further braces are required.

Adult Braces

Young, old or somewhere in between…the dream of straight teeth is achievable. Maybe you missed the appointments when you were young, or maybe it’s only now that your crooked teeth have started to bother you. Whatever the reason, the team at Warragul Dental Care can fix it.

We offer a range of services for adult braces, including the fast-track white braces that can give you straight teeth in just 6 months. A great option if you’re planning to perfect your smile for a major event.

I thought braces took years. How do fast-track braces work?

You’re right, traditional braces usually take 2-3 years. This is because they’re moving all your teeth (front and back) into the right position. The difference with fast-track braces is that we only focus on tidying up your front teeth, and leave your back teeth where they are. It’s a lot quicker to move your smaller front teeth, than it is your big, solid back teeth.

Traditional braces will obviously give a better overall result, but if you’re just looking for a quick fix and haven’t got 2-3 years to wait, then short-term braces can be a great choice. The treatment can take anywhere between 4 and 9 months. As with traditional braces, you’ll need to wear your retainer to keep your new smile once your braces come off.
