Braces for Adults and Children

Creating the perfect smile, whatever your age

If you haven’t already heard, braces are the new cool. It doesn’t matter what your age, straight teeth are most definitely ‘in’, and we’re delighted to offer braces for children and adults.

Whether it’s to fix your bite, help your kids get straight teeth, or just to create your perfect smile – Warragul Dental Care is the right choice for you.

Children and Teenager Braces

Getting braces at a young age can be a huge benefit to the long-term heath of your teeth.

We’re happy to work with you and your family to discuss whether braces are necessary and, if so, at what age to start. Braces are used for two reasons: one for appearances, to make your smile big and beautiful, and two: to fix certain teeth bite problems.

When does treatment start?

Between the ages of 7 and 12 we can start on treatment to develop your child’s jawbones. This will help the teeth fit in the mouth neatly. The treatment will help fix any problems caused by tongue thrusting and thumb sucking. It will also improve issues such as difficulties breathing caused by swollen adenoids or tonsils, and bite problems. This stage can take between 9 and 18 months and may occasionally be all your child needs. Once this initial treatment is completed we will assess whether further braces are required.

Adult Braces

Young, old or somewhere in between…the dream of straight teeth is always achievable.

Maybe you missed the appointments when you were young, or maybe it’s only now that your crooked teeth have started to bother you. Whatever the reason, the team at Warragul Dental Care are here to help.

We offer a range of services for adult braces, including:

  • fast-track braces for straight teeth in just 6 months
  • Invisalign braces for a discreet straight smile
  • traditional braces for more crooked teeth.

I thought braces took years. How do fast-track braces work?

You’re right, traditional braces usually take 2-3 years. That’s because they’re moving all your teeth (front and back) into the right position. The difference with fast-track braces is that we only focus on tidying up your front smiling teeth while we leave your back teeth where they are. It’s a lot quicker to move your smaller front teeth than it is your big, solid back teeth so the treatment is much quicker.

Traditional braces will give a better overall result, but if you’re just looking for a quick- fix then short-term braces can be a great choice. The treatment can take anywhere between 4 and 9 months. As with traditional braces, you’ll need to wear your retainer to keep your new smile straight once your braces come off.

 What are Invisalign braces?

Invisalign braces are a brilliant choice if you want straight teeth but don’t fancy wearing traditional wire braces. They’re clear plastic aligners that sit comfortably over your teeth and slowly move them into their new position. We give you a new set of aligners every time your teeth move, so there’s no tightening and tweaking in the dentist’s chair.

Invisalign braces are so discreet that no one will ever know you’re wearing braces, and the great thing is, you can take them out whenever you want – for cleaning, a special occasion or to play sport. Head to our page on Invisalign braces for more information, or call the team to find out more.
